Socialism is impractical because it is immoral
I can say and prove all I want that socialism doesn't work:
I can point to people who fled Cuba for Miami, those who fled East Germany for West Germany, and satellite images of the Korean Peninsula at night, with lights in the South and darkness in the North.
I can cite Argentina's economic collapse after a century of prosperity and Hong Kong's remarkable prosperity in the 20th century.
No matter what I say or how many facts I provide, most people still want socialist policies.
Why? Because they believe socialism is moral, even if impractical. They think it's good to make sacrifices, and doing so one can be considered good. They hold blatant contradictions because they don't understand that morality exists to promote life and well-being, not suffering and death.
The mere fact that this post can be viewed as controversial by so many people, explains why socialism is still defended despite its historical and undeniable failure, and why so many people can defend capitalism without giving its moral justification.
