The tribalist selective memory
Now it's the left's turn to ask for free expression and remember that there is a 1st Amendment. They're now complaining that their anti-right TV host was banned due to government pressure.
Both camps have selective memory. They seem to remember that the 1st Amendment exists only when they're not in power.
Let's repeat for them: Neither the left nor the right cares about free expression, individual rights, or Western values.
Both only wake up when they're not in power and when it comes to the freedom of those they agree with. I say to them: If you don't defend these values now, no one will care when it's your turn.
These rights are in the Constitution precisely to prevent a majority from taking away the rights of the minority.
Maybe one day these tribalists will look in the mirror, wake up, and join the side of those who think. But they will not. They are tribalists precisely because they don’t want to think, because they don’t know how to think and why thinking is good for them. They prefer the comfort of the tribe, hoping they will be taken care by it.
Tribalists have no self-esteem. Tribalists are afraid. Tribalists are dependent.
The crisis is epistemological. And it’s well documented. The problem is that those who documented it are not taken too seriously.
